The Duo Cloverdayle Won't Let 'Scars' Stop Them From Sharing Their Music With The World

Fellow Oregonians Rachel and Chad Hamar of the duo Cloverdayle set out to make a name for themselves with the release of their new single Scars. Originally coming from musical families, both grew up pursuing music in their own unique ways. For Rachel she was introduced to music in 3rd grade often performing at church and in school. Though trying out for multiple sports teams in high school, Rachel always came back to her passion for music. As for Chad, music was his sole focus as a child. Learning how to play the drums, Chad was already playing gigs regularly in middle school. The two finally met at Clackamas Community College where they were attending jazz classes and in 2008 Cloverdayle was created.
With a love of songwriting, the duo often writes of personal experiences. Sometimes their story, other times stories about their friends, Cloverdayle hopes their music is relatable and allows their fans to let loose. With many influences from Faith Hill to Lady Antebellum and George Michael, there’s no doubt that Cloverdayle’s sound is like nobody else.
During their 2017 summer tour, Cloverdayle debuted their latest and quite possibly most personal song, Scars after it garnered such an emotional reaction from fans that Chad & Rachel knew they needed to get in the studio and record it right away. However, Scars was not written overnight. The initial concept for the lyric started back in 2013, after Rachel had an unexpected major surgery, waking up with what she described as both “physical and emotional scars.” Rachel discovered that she has stage 4 endometriosis and that, after years of trying, their chances of having kids naturally would probably never happen.  Chad & Rachel know that we all share the common threads of hurt and healing, and especially with everything that’s happening in our world, they feel that the message of this song will be universally relatable.
