Rising singer-songwriter Peytan Porter released an ode to her hometown with “Speaking of Georgia” today. Listen here. She hopes this new track will “bring [her] fans back to her Georgia roots” painting a picture of the people, places, and past memories of love and loss. Growing up in Georgia, Peytan felt like the black sheep of her hometown. While always welcomed and loved in her hometown, Peytan felt there was somewhere else she was destined to be and made the move to Nashville. Peytan reflects on her life and says, “It was a hard decision to leave my home but this choice really shaped who I am today.”
Making that big leap at the end of 2020, she met renowned publisher Jody Williams and tells us his praise was a huge turning point for her career and fueling her passion to embark on bigger opportunities. Now signed to Jody Williams Songs, she has had a packed summer with performances at CMA Fest and Live Nation’s music festivals including Beach It!, Faster Horses, Watershed Festival and Tidalwave. With over 320k followers and 50 million views on TikTok, she’s garnered a loyal and massive following along with a number of accolades including being named a TikTok Songwriter of the Year Nominee at the 2022 iHeart Radio Awards and CMT’s Next Up Now Artist in September 2022. Payton’s inspirations range from Kacey Musgraves to Patsy Cline, Carrie Underwood, and Stevie Nicks. "I remember many times where I would have a basketball game the next day, but I would stay up till 4 a.m. watching Carrie Underwood's Blown Away DVD or listening to Taylor Swift records on repeat and reading every single credit," she remembered. "I knew I needed to go to sleep, but I always felt that this was more important than that game tomorrow." Peytan stole our hearts with her bubbly personality and passion behind everything she does.
