Our 2016 Artist of the Year, Lauren Alaina has released her empowering and highly anticipated album Road Less Traveled at a time when we all need the comfort of acceptance. An album full of personality as well as personal stories of her own, Lauren brings to life her past with bulimia, her father’s alcohol addiction, and her parents’ divorce. Lauren sings each track with pure emotion, appealing to her listeners in the hopes that they too will be able to relate to her experiences.
Road Less Traveled in one emotional rollercoaster. From her song “Three” where she opens up about the pain she’s felt being away from home to her favorite track “Pretty” which encourages young girls to look away from the mirror and embrace their natural beauty; Alaina not only sends a message, but brings you to tears.
Road Less Traveled is unlike any other album on the charts. Standing out with a strong theme of empowerment, positivity, and loving yourself and others, you are sure to learn many valuable lessons by an artist who’s overcome it all and is ready to empower us .
I am currently a student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles as a marketing major. Upon realizing that I wanted to change the way people perceive country music and to help women have a voice, I began The Women of Country in 2015 promoting new female artists and sharing their stories with the world.
