Though it may be hard to believe, artist Kaylee Rutland was shy as a child. Looking for singers to perform during her church’s christmas ceremony, Kaylee took a leap of faith and stepped up to the challenge. Walking onto the stage Kaylee felt an overwhelming comfort within her and began to discover her musical talent. In 5th grade Kaylee, while listening to the Sara Evans song “Born to Fly,” decided she wanted to start her own journey as an artist.
Raised in Texas country music is in Kaylee’s blood. Often writing of her own stories as well as the experiences of her friends and family, Kaylee hopes her music is relatable and has the ability to inspire. Despite having a contemporary sound, Kaylee often includes traditional country instruments to add a unique touch to each track. Her latest single “Pick Me Up” was co-written with Grammy nominee and producer Jamie O’Neal as well as Jamie’s sister Minnie Murphy. Becoming a more confident writer, Kaylee poured her heart into the song. Paving her way into the music scene Kaylee has been getting a lot of attention lately, gaining significant momentum on Radio Disney and Spotify.
Having toured alongside Raelynn in 2016 Kaylee hopes to travel this summer sharing her music with as many people as she can. So make sure to watch the official music video for “Pick Me Up” above and keep on requesting Kaylee’s music to Radio Disney.
I am currently a student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles as a marketing major. Upon realizing that I wanted to change the way people perceive country music and to help women have a voice, I began The Women of Country in 2015 promoting new female artists and sharing their stories with the world.
