Peytan Porter has released her debut single, Therapy, you can check it out here! The song was written three years ago. “I wrote it three years ago. I came out of an awful relationship and didn't trust myself or anyone. I parked in all the spots we used to go to until it didn't hurt. I didn't want him to take Nashville away from me. That was my therapy”. Porter wrote the song alongside Mackenzie Carpenter, Micah Carpenter, and Jonathan Hutcherson. The song was produced by Greg Bates and Evan Cline. The song has been heard by many artists as a demo including Little Big Town!
Porter hails from Dawsonville, Georgia where she and her sisters all grew up playing sports. “I loved playing sports but once I started writing songs. I loved songwriting so much that I started asking if I could skip practices just so I could focus on it. I started to sing at school and at church. I remember I always showed my parents videos of singers”. Peytan loves songwriting because she loves words, stories, and emotions. “Songwriting is what made me want to pursue music”. Porter attended Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee and started as an intern at Sea Gayle Music, an independent music publishing company. In the fall of her senior year, Porter got a publishing deal but walked away from “because it wasn't right for me”. Porter dreams of playing legendary venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver, Colorado, Madison Square Garden in New York City, and the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The Georgia born singer looks up to artists like Beyonce, Taylor Swift and “the most incredible genius, Dolly Parton!” Peytan’s ultimate goal is to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry! “I have spent a lot of time dreaming of this career and what I want and where I want to be. This first release has not resonated with me yet, but I am so grateful for all the risks and choices”. Porter says she has lots of new content coming out before the end of the year including a music video for the debut song and stay tuned in early 2022 for some new music!
