Melanie’s love for country music began at a young age, her mother listened to country music, her dad a lot of rock. Melanie cites her influences as Shania Twain, Phil Vassar, Taylor Swift, and Fleetwood Mac. She carried that passion into college attending Belmont University. There she studied songwriting, English, and earned a Masters in education. Melanie constantly pushes the boundaries of country music saying, “I just want to make good music. Whether that’s the blues, country, pop, reggae, or something completely new and different. I’ll always be a country artist first, but when it comes to creating music, I want to let the song be what it’s meant to be.” You can follow Melanie on social media at @melaniemeriney and on her website here.
