Melanie also released her first video to CMT for “Sober You” in 2019. The title is a play off the phase “over you” and talks of someone who never sees the sober side of you. Melanie teamed up with videographer Josh Mendez who set the scene at the famous Back Corner and Printer’s Alley in Nashville. Her song "Sober You" has racked up over 121K streams on Spotify alone and enjoyed an exclusive premiere with CMT. Watch the video below.
Melanie’s love for country music began at a young age, her mother listened to country music, her dad a lot of rock. Melanie cites her influences as Shania Twain, Phil Vassar, Taylor Swift, and Fleetwood Mac. She carried that passion into college attending Belmont University. There she studied songwriting, English, and earned a Masters in education. Melanie constantly pushes the boundaries of country music saying, “I just want to make good music. Whether that’s the blues, country, pop, reggae, or something completely new and different. I’ll always be a country artist first, but when it comes to creating music, I want to let the song be what it’s meant to be.”
