Meet Next Big Things Parker Graye

Parker Graye is a rising country artist out of Vancouver, BC. She released her debut single, “Do Over” on September 15th, 2020 and received over 25,000 streams within the first 5 weeks of its release on Spotify! Parker recently spoke with The Women of Country where we find out what inspired her to pursue music, her favorite performance, and more. 

Growing up, Parker was obsessed with the pop princesses and country queens. Her idols include Dolly Parton, Ashley McBryde, Maren Morris, Hailey Whitters, Ashland Craft, Ingrid Andress, Cam, Caitlyn Smith … the list goes on! Her parents weren’t convinced that this was the route that Parker should take at first, but her talented Aunt Can knew that Paker had what it would take! Parker has since been named the “Next Big Thing” by Casey Clarke and was featured on The Casey Clarke Country Countdown. She has co-written 60+ songs with songwriters across Canada and the United States. 

Before being the “Next Big Thing” in Country Music, Parker was actually planning a pop/electronic music career. However, she said, “Something wasn’t clicking and my obsession for country had never wavered… at my core, I love telling stories and I’m obsessed with the feeling.” Her single, “Do Over” was the catalyst for her country career. Her stories tell songs of heartbreak and her life experiences. Her upcoming single, “Before You Leave” is about, “the drama and frustrations of being in love with someone who has one foot in, one foot out - the relationship you thought might be forever is actually foreshadowing the end.

Parker played a showcase at the legendary Roxy Theatre just before the lockdown happened in March. She was playing for the BC Country Music Breakthrough Project and was so amped to be performing all of her new music. Parker’s 2021 goal is to, “write for as many artists as possible, release a full EP and hopefully by then lock down a publisher/label deal!”
