Jennie List has released her first full length album! “How It Starts” can be found here. The Boston, Massachusetts born singer came from a music loving family and listened to Martina McBride, Vince Gill, and Reba McEntire growing up. List started out doing Broadway music but always had a love for the stories within country music but being from Boston, it was hard to imagine that one day it would become a reality. List knew she wanted to be in music, so she enrolled in the Audio Engineering camp at the famous Blackbird Studios (started by John McBride and wife, country star Martina McBride) in Nashville, Tennessee. She got to work with songwriters and in that moment, she knew songwriting was for her, not to mention the inspiration from the hit ABC show “Nashville” also helped her realize her dream for songwriting. She then took her experience to Belmont University’s Songwriting degree.
The “How It Starts” singer cites fellow Massachusetts songwriter extraordinaire Lori McKenna as her inspiration but also idolizes Dolly Parton. List describes this album as “Americana and Folk with Rock Elements”. List called on fellow Belmont peers to be her collaborators on this debut album. She worked with Dallas Jack (Maren Morris, Keith Urban, and Old Dominion) among many others. When performing, list loves to see people “smile or cry at certain songs. Just to see people a have a moment with my music is amazing”. When Jennie is not performing, she loves attending shows at the historic Ryman Auditorium. List would give aspiring artists the advice of “It is really hard and discouraging sometimes but it is worth it. It is a rewarding process, and you grow a lot as an artist and as an individual. Keep living life because the songs will be getting better”. Stay tuned for an upcoming project from List! Check out her website for all information on her music, merchandise, and upcoming shows.
