Keep an eye out for Leah Marie Mason. The Belmont senior has already secured over 250,000 monthly listeners on Spotify following the success of “Far Boy.” The song was Mason’s first write since moving to Nashville. About her breakup, Mason surprised her ex-boyfriend with the song and filmed it. His reaction went viral and so did the song. Mason saying, “a lot of people in my comments are saying how this is so relatable for them like they're going through a similar experience. Like a lot of people, music, it helps people cope. So, that's like all I ever want with my music and the fact that people are commenting saying that that's what it's doing is an incredible feeling for me.” Mason recorded the song with Austin Burke who is also featured in the music video. Mason grew up in a musical family, her dad a drummer. By the age of ten she was in a 70s rock band and formed an acoustic duo in high school. For college, Mason went to the Berklee College of Music, but realized her love for country music, especially Chris Stapleton, and transferred to Belmont University where she currently attends school. Mason is constantly writing and performing. In fact, she’s a Whiskey Jam regular.
Mason’s latest release “I Wish” is a modern-day Cinderella story combined with an acoustic guitar and fiddle similar to that of an early Taylor Swift song. You can connect with Mason on social media @leahmariemason and on her website here.
