Hannah Bethel has released the first song off of her upcoming EP. “Bad News Baby” can be heard here. The rest of the EP is due out in March. The upcoming EP is made up of a collection of songs that Bethel has spent writing over the past few years. “I was in a season of life where I was seeking outside of myself for validation. I went through some heartbreak and loss. I surrendered to the grief and the coming down then building back up. I found it to be an extraordinary experience. I felt all the feelings and rang them out like a sponge”. On this EP, All but one song were solely written by Bethel. “When I started out (as a musician) I felt that co-writes were what was needed to be successful. As I got into them I felt that co-writing was always a compromise and never fully myself. It never felt like my whole story”. While writing “Bad News Baby”, Hannah heard the song in her head and heard the exact way she wanted it to sound and be produced. The EP was produced by Tim Craven (The Brethren/Boys Club for Girls), mixed by Brandon Bell (Brandi Carlile, The Highwomen, Miranda Lambert and more) and includes musicians Sadler Vaden (Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit and Morgan Wade), Billy Justineau (Brothers Osborne/Eric Church), Jabe Beyer (Natalie Hemby/Lucie Silvas), Megan Jane (Erin Enderlin and Molly Tuttle), and Peter Sternberg (Brothers Osborne).

Hannah grew up in the Midwest. First in Wisconsin and then moved to Michigan. She started out in dance, then moved to theater, but found her calling at 14 when she started songwriting and playing guitar. “I played anywhere and everywhere. From Malls and restaurants to all fairs, festivals and bars”. Bethel's parents are dreamers and “always always encouraged me and my siblings to do something we loved instead of being practical or financially stable”. Hannah grew up listening to all kinds of music like James Taylor, The Eagles, Tom Petty, Willie Nelson, and The Chicks. “My music reflects the music I grew up on. I have been country influenced but I never found I fully fit into a specific genre”. When playing live, Bethel’s favorite venues to play are the more intimate spots where she can see everyone. She dreams of playing spots like the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee  and the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. In addition to her music career, Hannah is a hypnotherapy practitioner and reiki master. She knew she always wanted to study reiki and hypnotherapy but never thought how they could both fit into her musical career. “I got tired of doing jobs that I wasn't inspired by. I then pursued hypno(therapy) and reiki and I began seeing clients as a side hustle”. Bethel wants aspiring artists to know that they should “Honor your heart and learn to listen to your inner voice. Learn to quiet yourself so you can check in”.
