Brooke Lambert has today released her new single I Don’t Wanna Hate You. The track was written with one of Lambert’s best friends, Nina Ward, about a toxic relationship that completely consumed Lambert for over a year and is based on the concept of looking at a bad relationship through rose-colored glasses.
Originally from Gosford but now calling the Gold Coast home, Lambert is a rising star whose talents are matched only by her sense of humor. Her debut EP Right Now came in at #4 on the iTunes Country chart on the day of its release, and Lambert has enjoyed a wave of success since, with festival slots at Broadbeach Country Music Festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival and the Backroad Bash Music Festival. She has also supported acts including Kirsty Lee Akers, Neilly Rich and The Choirboys. Recorded at Machine Lab Studios on the Gold Coast, I Don’t Wanna Hate You was produced by Jared Adlam, from Jared Adlam Audio Production, who has worked with artists such as Aleyce Simmonds, Tori Forsyth, The Ruiins and Jonny Taylor. I Don’t Wanna Hate You kicks off with an upbeat guitar riff, setting the tone for the remainder of the track. “Intoxicated, infuriated, with the mess you made of me,” sings Lambert, though her tight performance is hardly reminiscent of a mess. Lambert walks a tightrope, coming to terms with the knowledge that "I don’t wanna hate you, but I think I do." With lyrics portraying a lover’s innocence and a woman’s wisdom, I Don’t Wanna Hate You is an exciting taste of Lambert’s upcoming EP, due for release in 2019, and you can sneak a preview at various shows over the summer. Don’t miss her, because you don’t wanna hate yourself.
