Pull up a chair to Dani Taylor’s table or she’ll be drinking for two. The Arizona native is releasing her anticipated single “Table for One Drinking for Two” this Friday, February 5th. Pulling from her own experiences, Dani’s music is relatable and helps turn what was negative into a positive. Dani saying, “I want to be happy, and I want other people to be happy, even at their lowest. I want girls, the misunderstood, the underdogs, and anyone having a bad day or breakup to listen to my music and feel more empowered. I want people to go to my music to make them feel better. Through my music, I want to spread positivity and a healthier outlook on life and the future, for myself and for anyone who’s listening.”
At a young age, Dani was performing in choir and musical theatre. However, it wasn’t until college when she started writing and working with a vocal coach. Her country music influences came from Patsy Cline, Dani blending country, pop, and even keltic tones in her music. With a focus on connecting with her audience, Dani is adding a personal touch to her upcoming music. Her plan, to release three more songs this year. Former Team Blake member and 70s-inspired songstress Kristi Hoopes brought Grammy-nominated country star Mickey Guyton to tears this month during The Today Show's newest episode of "Women Who Rock: Music and Mentorship" as part of the Citi Music Series. Created as an opportunity to give young female singer-songwriters a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be mentored by A-list female music superstars, "Women Who Rock" has recently featured mentors such as Maren Morris and Sheryl Crow.
Hoopes questioned Guyton on a number of topics including musical influences, the struggles female artists face in the music industry, diversity, and what "real" country music sounds like. Shortly before the episode's close, Hoopes shared a heart-wrenching new original song entitled "Potential" that details the letdowns and setbacks so often faced by women trying to "make it." The song struck a chord with Guyton, who said it "gave [her] chills." Guyton's stance on the country newcomer was firm, as seen per the statement made on her official social media pages: "I fight for women in country music for artists like Kristi Hoopes." "Being mentored by Mickey was an unbelievable honor," says Hoopes. "She understands better than anyone how important it is to have a champion who believes in your talent, and I am incredibly grateful to now call her one of mine. The music industry can be particularly brutal and taxing for women, so it's important to have female allies that you can rely on." Watch the "Women Who Rock: Music and Mentorship" segment here.
