Alli Walker has released her song called “Country Music”; you can check it out here! Alli reflects on writing the song, “during the pandemic I wrote it with Brian John Hardwood and Dustin Bird. We wrote this song about growing up on country music”. The song includes 14 country music references. Alli was born and raised in Prince Edward Island, Canada, where her parents put her in everything. She remembers not liking piano lessons but regrets that decision. At 19, Walker moved to Toronto to be where the music industry was happening in Canada. “I played every festival and event for a decade. I saw Toronto as a place with more opportunities, and I also traveled back and forth to Nashville all the time”. Alli is glad she didn’t move to Nashville when she was starting out because “you only get one first impression and I had a lot of growth to do”.
Alli grew up listening to Sum 41 and Avril Lavigne, and then transitioned to Taylor Swift, Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, Kacey Musgraves and Maren Morris once she found country music. “Country music was always playing at my babysitters house and I found friends who also loved the genre. It was a slow burn but no turning back!” Her favorite song is “Enchanted” by Taylor Swift, the song came out the year she met her husband and it ended up as her wedding song. “I love performing, especially that feeling that you get as soon as you finish, and you get offstage. On stage, you’re living in the moment and once you’re off, you get to reflect on what just happened.” Alli dreams of playing Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. During the pandemic, Alli started posting content on social media including a cover of Old Dominion’s hit song “My Heart Is A Bar” on the bagpipe, an instrument she picked up for the first time when she was 12 years old! “I worked with Dave Cohen who plays the accordion and piano and he worked on the Old Dominion song. When I heard it, it sounded like an east coast/Keltic melody. Right away, I needed to do a bagpipe version of this”. You can check out the bagpipe video here. Alli has lots of new content coming out in 2022 including videos and new music as well as her sophomore album!
