1. It’s an excuse to go to local county fairs
Concerts they last one night, a couple of hours when you and a few of your friends get to stand next to your auditorium chairs and scream the lyrics to all your favorite songs from row 300 and something then before you know it the lights come on the artist and their band exits the stage and you’ll never see them unless you pay another $1000 the next time they come into town. But unlike seeing Bruno Mars or Adele, you’ll find the biggest stars in country music at your local county fair. Where you pay general admission, an average of $20, then grab a beer your cowboy boots and head straight to the front of the stage cause you can. And after the show I bet you’ll get the chance to meet and take a picture with the artists that were performing. Better yet spend the rest of your evening on amusement park rides or winning stuffed animals at the carnival. The fun is endless at local county fairs and if you listen to country music you’ll enjoy the fun just that much more.

2. It’s relatable
Ever feel like there’s nobody else out there going through the same struggles as you are? Then you’re wrong and likely to hear about your problems in a country song. With songs about everything from heartache, to cheating, and that ex that just can’t seem to let you be; there’s always another voice out there reminding you that you are not alone.

3. You can meet your favorite artists in person
We know you listen to your favorite artists on Spotify and SoundCloud, but have you ever checked out their websites? There you can find everything from a biography to acoustic covers and how you could meet your favorite artist in person. Though a possibility with artists of other genres, after meeting up with Jana Kramer and RaeLynn I was surprised by their ability to make you feel special as well as answer a few of your dire questions.

4. You feel empowered
There’s nothing wrong with adding a few new tracks to your girl power or workout playlist. Maybe you’re Insecure and need a little RaeLynn to cheer you up maybe you are facing a difficult challenge and need to remind yourself "I Am Invincible" with the help of Cassadee Pope or want to stand up to bullies like Kalie Shorr who can Fight Like a Girl. Music has the power to change how you feel, so why not add these songs to your music collection.

5. There’s nothing like a good hoedown
There’s nothing like a good party in college, so why not spice it up with a hoedown. Now don’t make a face just yet, cause we know you all want to dance like Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormald did in the 2011 remake of Footloose.

So don’t hesitate to tune in to your local country station once in awhile or for those of you XM listeners there’s always new music from the best and the up and coming in country music on Siriusxm The Highway.

Lately, I have been feeling down on myself. I normally don't listen to country music but I think I'll give it a try. My girlfriend and I broke up so listening to a song about heartache would help me feel like I am not alone.
