Peytan Porter delivers her new project GROWN, a six-song EP entirely co-penned by Porter that is an organic fusion of country roots, classic rock and bluesy soul, woven together with thought-provoking, identity-exploring lyrics. Her timeless sound pays homage to the past while boldly carving her path in the present and today alongside the release available HERE, Porter also shares the title track’s music video bringing to life the excitement and sadness of coming into one’s own.
Ahead of the project’s release, critics including Entertainment Tonight, Country Now, Music Mayhem and Taste of Country highlighted early released tracks, praising her "nimble voice that adeptly shifts between bluesy tones and an ethereal airy upper register” and "eye for lyrical detail” (Billboard). “The gritty, six-song EP—all co-penned by Porter—features a collection of thought-provoking lyrics that illuminate the places where she stands apart as she comes into her own as an artist.” - Music Row “She sheds light on a creative revival, the culmination of dismantling — then rebuilding— her sound to reveal her true self…the album is lush with introspective lyrics and gauzy, Laurel Canyon vibes.” -Billboard "2024 is the year of Peytan Porter re-introducing herself to the world as the incredible artist and storyteller she is...drawing on soul and rock sounds to add to her country songwriting. Grown feels like the project that proves that Porter has unapologetically stepped into her true calling as an artist. We cannot say enough good things about the EP!" - Country Swag "Overall ‘Grown’ is a highly personal body of work which taps into Porter’s past and shows her as an artist who’s wise beyond her years. There’s a strong narrative thread of stepping into your own power that runs through the project and the blend of country and rock influences is sure to endear over plenty of fans, alongside her solid vocals and great songwriting.” - Entertainment Focus Porter is set to perform her first-ever headlining shows as “The Road To Grown” in two cities that fostered her growth, allowing her to thrive - Nashville, TN (4/17) where she currently calls home and Atlanta, GA (4/25) not far from where she was raised. Tickets are available for purchase HERE. In an era obsessed with choosing sides and validating preconceptions, Porter has separated herself from the pack. A self proclaimed small-town misfit from Dawsonville, GA, she’s breaking the molds of both polished commercial Country music and the rootsy-craft behind Americana, hooking listeners with vivid tunes that feel universal but raise interesting questions. Porter's voice demands attention with an insightful stance as she signed her first deal in 2021 as a joint venture with Jody Williams Songs and Warner Chappell Music. Fresh off the heels of her acclaimed debut project IN MY HEAD earning 10 million streams across streaming platforms, Porter has also garnered a loyal and massive following in recent years, with 330k followers across all platforms and 50 million views on TikTok. The emerging artist has already earned a number of accolades including being a TikTok "Songwriter of the Year" Nominee at the 2022 iHeart Radio Awards and was named a CMT’s "Next Up Now Artist." She has also served as direct support for Elle King, has performed at multiple CMA Fest and has opened for artists including Willie Nelson, Jon Pardi, Larry Fleet, Brett Eldredge, Eli Young Band and more. With the release of her debut album The Girl I Was last March, Lewisville, Texas native Jenna Paulette detailed her journey overcoming the heartbreak of a toxic relationship and rediscovering her identity – ultimately returning to the girl she was prior. Emerging stronger than ever, Paulette is now turning toward a chapter of redemption and newfound love with “Darlin,’” her first release on Leo33, available now.
Reflecting on her personal journey of healing, Paulette shares, “It’s easy when you’re young to meet someone who tells you things that aren’t true about yourself and to believe him until, slowly, he chips away at who you are. If that’s you, I hope this song provides comfort knowing you’re not alone, stirs the courage inside of you to walk away, and offers the reassurance that something better awaits you.” Written by Paulette alongside Jess Cayne and Matthew Morrisey, “Darlin’” juxtaposes the manipulation of a past relationship with the restored confidence that comes with true love. He calls me pretty And I believe him Tells me he loves me And God, I can feel it His prayer that was answered When I was your problem Yeah it’s really something The way I keep fallin’ When he calls me darlin’ “Darlin’” offers the first taste of new music to come from Paulette on the heels of her record deal with Leo33, as she returns to the studio to prepare her sophomore record for 2024. Paulette’s musical journey has been defined by impactful storytelling, exemplified most recently in the official music video for “You Ain’t No Cowboy” which was released on World Mental Health Day. The video, inspired by the true story of her own cowboy, Ross, challenges mental health stigma in the agricultural community and has over 177,000 views. Paulette’s debut album, The Girl I Was, was released in March 2023 and has amassed over 30M on-demand streams. She swiftly earned her critical acclaim including media coverage from People Magazine, Grammy.com, and more. Additionally, Paulette has been named an Apple Music Country Riser of the Month as well as one of CMT’s Next Women of Country. Paulette is currently on the road with Aaron Watson as part of his The Armadillo Dance Hall Tour, and recently performed to a packed crowd at the Mercury Lounge in New York City. Listen to/share the powerful new track HERE.
Ashton’s confidence reverberates throughout the song as she calls out the hypocrisy of men who praise her independence, only to chastise her for it when it no longer serves them. On creating the song, Ashton explains, “This wasn't a fancy hook or Nashville flip I had going into my co-write with Jared Keim and Emily Weisband. This was just one single, universal bit of truth that I think all women would agree with; any man who has ever called me crazy, has called me again. After explaining it to them, Emily sang "I never been called crazy by a man who didn't come back" just as you hear the melody in the song. I looked at her and sang "for more". We knew we had a smash and freaked out until the last word was written. I've been playing this out live here and there for the past six months and the screams I get from the women of the crowd after the first chorus hits tells me I was right in my assumption. Whether you want to pick up the phone when they call again, that's for "crazy" you to decide.” “Called Crazy” is Ashton’s first release of 2024, following her sultry rendition of Christina Aguilera’s “Genie In A Bottle” released last November. In 2023, Ashton also released her Top 40 hit, “Drive You Out Of My Mind,” and its silky, slowed-down companion, “Drive You Out Of My Mind (Dark Room Edition),” released in September. “Drive You Out Of My Mind” received praise from Billboard, Music Row, Country Now and more for its energetic production and irresistible lyricism. Ashton also completed an extensive run of dates with Old Dominion, where she brought her rich vocals to fans nationwide. This year, Ashton is back on the road for several headlining performances, festival appearances, and more performances with Old Dominion. Full list of tour dates below! Country/Folk Artist and Songwriter Sarah McCulloch has announced her brand new full-length album Driving Me Home with the release of the new single, “Hippie Tattoo.” The song's production style has a bluegrass-tinged feel, featuring Pat Severs, a legendary Grand Ole Opry star, on the banjo and dobro. McCulloch showcases her smart and witty songwriting style in this track, with lyrics that are charming, entertaining, and relatable.
“It’s a clever and fun song, but the message is quite deep: we are more alike than not, and we all have scars,” shares McCulloch. “Tattoos are important symbols of our happy times but also our traumas, and they are deeply personal that way. People want to talk about their tattoos, so the song is a fun conversation starter, too!” LISTEN TO THE SINGLE HERE. McCulloch’s new album, Driving Me Home features “Hippie Tattoo” as its lead single. The full-length acoustic project was produced and mixed by Jim Bickerstaff (Widespread Panic, Loretta Lynn, Chuck Leavell, Gladys Knight) at Waterview Studios in Southport, NC, and written entirely by McCulloch. Driving Me Home is an inspiring collection of 12 song stories, many of which feature strong capable female archetypes who showcase the strength to triumph over adversity and the courage to move forward with independence. “Because of my own life experiences, I’ve learned no matter how bad your situation is, you have to keep moving,” shares McCulloch. “But the last song I wrote for the album, ‘Driving Me Home,’ which ended up being the title track, is ultimately about relinquishing a little of that independence and allowing for vulnerability.” Driving Me Home was recorded mostly in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina with live recording engineer Mark Thompson. The album features widely acclaimed Florida musicians Raiford Starke (Guitar, Dobro, Accordion), Jeanie Fitchen (BGVs), William Ellis (Bass), and Wayne Martin (Fiddle), as well as Pat Severs (Dobro, Banjo), Matthew Mundy (Mandolin), Stan Garber (Harmonica), and Savannah Bickerstaff and Landis Yarovvy (BGVs). The album artwork was designed by Jeremy Fetzer with photography by Nina Babel. “The overall message of this album is hope. Not becoming a victim of circumstance. Finding your voice through adversity,” shares McCulloch. “I think it is ultimately a shout-out to us women who do it all - work, take care of families, create. This album is to tell all my sisters that you’re doing it and you’re doing it well. But it’s also okay to be vulnerable because that’s what makes us human.” Born in Miami, McCulloch was raised in a swampy remote enclave of northeastern Collier County, near the Big Cypress Seminole Reservation. Her family built their home with hand-milled cypress from her Father's sawmill. She was homeschooled for most of her formative years and drew songwriting inspiration from her colorful childhood, surrounded by the Seminole Tribe and Florida pioneers. The renowned folk singer-songwriter and country artist has become known for her exceptional ability to weave captivating stories through her music. McCulloch has gained significant recognition for her songwriting skills. She has won several awards, including the South Florida Folk and Acoustic Music Festival Songwriting Competition. Additionally, she was among the top three finalists in the 2023 Will McLean Best New Florida Song Contest. With her knack for poignant lyrics and soulful melodies, the native Floridian is carving a niche for herself in the world of music, earning a loyal fan base and attracting attention both locally and across the pond in Europe. Sarah McCulloch’s full-length LP Driving Me Home will be available on all major distribution streaming platforms on May 3, 2024.
