The UK based band and winner of the Emerging Artist award at the UK Americana Awards, have released their latest song “Gold” and are gearing up for the release of their self-titled album coming July 30th.
Growing up, Whiffin was inspired by Fleetwood Mac, Simon and Garfunkel and Van Morrison. Wilcox grew up on folk music from her parents and states that “the only thing I was good at was music." While the band is successful in the Americana and Country genre, they actually did not set out with any genre in mind. The band was drawn together by the magical harmony that was created when they first met. Band member Francesca Whiffin states that “The storytelling in country music is something that you do not hear anywhere else”. The band mates all grew up with similar interests in theater and being on stage, but as they started singing together, they got the confidence to “invest in the music”. Wilcox and Whiffin reflect on how Shania Twain is an inspiration for their music growing up “she was strong, brave, and powerful, and feminist before we were talking about feminists”. Wilcox also states Carrie Underwood and Faith Hill as other musical inspirations. The band currently has a song out off of their upcoming album titled “Dolores” named after the late Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries (Zombie), where Whiffin explains that an article and the story about the late singer sparked the songwriting for the new song. The highlight so far of Wilcox’s and Whiffins time in the country music industry has been opening up for country legend Marty Stuart on tour in the UK and then got invited to tour with him again in the United States, where their first American show ever was at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. While the show was not only special as their first show outside the UK, but that night they also got to play with Chris Stapleton, Margo Price, and the late John Prine. Stuart has made such an impact on the band that they see him as their godfather. Make sure to check out their upcoming self-titled album as you may hear some lyrics written by Marty Stuart and even him playing alongside the band! South Dakota native, Katie Fee was a ‘90s country fan as a child. She grew up to Shania Twain, Deana Carter, and Faith Hill, but it was the songwriting of Taylor Swift that made her want to pursue music.
Following her dreams, she made the move to Nashville where she studied music business at Belmont University. Finding co-writes as a great resource, a way to get a different perspective on the same idea Katie wrote her next single “Sunsets and Fireworks” with her friend Sammy Kay. The song set to be released on May 21st is inspired by Eric Church’s “Springsteen.” A summer nostalgia track about a high school romance, it will have you taken aback. “It’s one of those song that I can see being timeless because of its relatability,” Katie says. “Everybody has a first love that they can look back on and (hopefully) remember in a positive light.” Performing at writers rounds in Nashville, you can find Katie performing at Belcourt Taps. She also enjoys performing at local fairs. During the pandemic, Katie has spent a lot of time in the studio recording and plans to release more songs this year. You can find Katie on social media @katiefeemusic and on her website here. Country diva Gracia returns with her new single “hey” dropping tonight, at midnight (March 14th). He gives me butterflies and he never lies, shares his fries with me.” An upbeat, beachy feel the song was released just in time for summer. The music video for the song was filmed in Miami with her boyfriend. The two are seen going on dates and falling in love.
A former member of Team Blake on NBC The Voice, you might remember Gracia as the first to yodel on the show. A midwestern girl with the heart of a city girl, her sound infuses pop and country, fans of Kelsea Ballerini, Dolly Parton, Halsey, and Lady Gaga will enjoy. In fact, Kelsea was a writer on her song “Boys in a Beach Town” alongside Will Nance and Jennifer Denmark. In addition to her time on The Voice, Gracia has been praised by major country outlets and her first single “Jezebel” charted on Music Row. Gracia enjoys the whole process from finding song ideas to getting up on stage. While she prefers bigger stages and festivals, Gracia can’t help but return to her hometown dive bar to perform for her friends and family. Writing a lot in quarantine, she plans to release more singles and even an EP in the coming year. You can pre-order “hey” and follow her on her website here. Author: Nicole Marchesi Introducing Bridget Rian who is set to release her debut EP “Talking to Ghosts” on July 16th. Rian choosing the title, because “in every song I am either talking to someone who has died, my past self, or talking about ghosts. There are also some old, interesting family stories about me as a baby talking to ghosts… so it’s a topic close to my heart.” A dark and mysterious collection, Rian will keep you guessing what’s next. Leading the EP are the tracks “Type of Girl,” challenging societal gender expectations, and “Trailer Park Cemetery,” a commentary on life and death. Based in Nashville, the EP was recorded at The Smoakstack and produced by Paul Moak. Fans of Ingrid Andress and Kacey Musgraves will enjoy her unique sound, a blend of indie rock, alternative, pop, and country.
Growing up in Long Island, Bridget found music after her mom bought her a guitar for her 10th birthday. She also learned how to play the piano. In high school, Bridget took up music classes when her choir teacher showed her badass female singer-songwriters, Bridget reflecting “it really started to develop my taste and become basically addicted to songwriting. High school was a hard time for me, so songwriting was really a way for me to process my emotions.” A performer at heart, Bridget enjoys the intimate feel of connecting with an audience and interacting with fans after the show who are able to relate to her stories. Music for Bridget really is therapy. In the fall of 2020, Rian signed with Lady Savage MGMT & PR and will be releasing several singles leading up to her full EP release. Author: Nicole Marchesi Big Sky Music Group singer-songwriter, StephanieQuayle, continues her journey through love with her upcoming release, "We Buy Gold," available everywhere on May 14th. Pre-order here. The track, written by Park Chisolm, Anna Vaus, and Mark Irwin, is a testament to how even though the world could be falling down around us and there are a million reasons to travel through life alone, we still long for that connection that we can carry with us for a lifetime.
"Growing up, 'we buy gold' was a sign in the storefront of my dad’s shop. Buying gold was part of my dad’s work so the title had me from the start. I understood it. Then when I actually heard the song, it really got me - the curiosities of how everything can be falling apart and we still fall in love, pair off, get engaged, married...We still find and choose each other," says Stephanie. She continues, "We recorded this song years back and it just wasn’t quite right. We held onto it because we knew it was special. When Alex [Kline] brought this to life in her 'Kline' way, the story and the feel unfolded perfectly. I felt this song on a whole other level when my younger brother, John, got married at our farm during the Pandemic. The message never felt so honest as it did in that moment. Love prevailed when every possible hurdle came to pass. We still buy gold." "We Buy Gold" follows Stephanie's recent releases, "By Heart" and "Wild Frontier" - in collection, each of the three tracks lays a roadmap that mirrors her own journey through love with her husband. From the first meeting and getting to know each other to the boundless opportunities ahead and finally, buying the gold that solidifies a partnership in love. Stay tuned for even more new music from Stephanie this year! |
