With a father who couldn’t help but play music around the house, artist Emily Hackett was quick to begin writing songs of her own. Growing up to rock and roll, it wasn’t until her high school years when Emily found a passion for country music. Empowered by female artists of the early 2000’s such as Sheryl Crow and Michelle Branch, Emily hopes her music is honest and relatable.
Drawn to storytelling, Emily was destined for country music but isn’t afraid to incorporate the sounds of rock and pop in her music. Emily’s newest single Nostalgia reflects her past, the who and what made her who she is today. With her debut album on the way Emily is always in the studio, but plans to perform throughout the year in Los Angeles as well as Chicago.
As for the future Emily is excited about collaborating with artists new and old as well as the chance to be recognized at an awards show for her music. Knowing “women are in right now” Emily is confident that she’s going to deliver a powerful message through her music impacting not only females, but listeners worldwide.
So listen to Nostalgia available on Spotify and iTunes and stay tuned for more to come.
I am currently a student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles as a marketing major. Upon realizing that I wanted to change the way people perceive country music and to help women have a voice, I began Next Women of Country in 2015 promoting new female artists and sharing their stories with the world.
