With a wealth of experience as a live performer and accomplished songwriting under her belt, Scottish-born singer-songwriter Kerri Watt returns with her new release Never on August 24th. Kerri performed on the song with Embrace, who released this track themselves as the lead single from their new album, with Kerri contributing her flawless vocals. Kerri has since gone on to perform with the band on several occasions, including twice at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, opening for Coldplay in July 2017.
Never, is Kerri’s own, truly unique rendition of their collaboration. The track showcases a beautifully crafted, atmospheric melody, alongside Kerri’s faultless, emotive vocal delivery. An insight into a toxic yet inescapable relationship between two people who can’t imagine being apart, it carries great power to match its anthemic vibe. It’s an example of an experienced artist at the top of her game, drawing from both her pop and country influences, resulting in an impactful piece of work that looks destined to expand her fast-growing fan base. “The guys from Embrace asked if they could play me a new song they’d been working on. The track was Never. We messed around with it for a few hours, then Rick got the rest of the band in to record it. Embrace decided to put it on their upcoming album. I was so happy and honored that they asked me to duet on the track because i’d really grown attached to it. I wasn’t sure if my solo version would ever see the light of day.” Kerri has toured extensively across the UK and Europe over the last few years, including shows with the likes of Starsailor, Ward Thomas, Nina Nesbitt and Mike & The Mechanics. She’s also captivated audiences at many UK festivals including Glastonbury, Isle Of Wight, Country2Country and Secret Garden Party. She’s no stranger in the States either, playing at legendary LA venues Whisky A Go-Go, The Hotel Cafe, New York’s Rockwood Music Hall and The Basement in Nashville. With another trip to the US planned for the very near future, new music is on the horizon for one of the UK’s most exciting singer-songwriters. “It’s been a magical rollercoaster with this song since debuting it at the Cardiff Millennium Stadium opening for Coldplay last year. And being a solo artist it’s been such an awesome change to have people to share all the excitement with! “ Despite her love for Dolly Parton, Catherine Roche didn’t want to work 9 to 5 and choose to pursue a career in music. Finding herself in Nashville Catherine had the chance to collaborate with artists in the area, later meeting up with producer Kent Wells.
Once Catherine got her foot in the door she became determined to release her debut EP. As a result she released Beautiful Sunrise this year, which features six songs written by Catherine herself. Each song on the EP tells a story including Catherine’s favorite track Gypsy Soul, which tells of her hometown and being proud of where she came from. In the future, Catherine hopes to engage with her fans on tour. Having performed shows in New England, Catherine wants to expand her fanbase this year. So listen to Beautiful Surprise on iTunes and Spotify now. |
