With a country twang, an R&B range, and pop melodies, artist Sophia Scott is determined not to be restricted by genre. Hailing from Boulder and now living in Los Angeles, Sophia grew up with an eclectic music taste, listening to everything from James Taylor to Mariah Carey to Shania Twain who's influences can be heard throughout her music.
Sophia started gaining traction by posting youtube covers that she recorded in her bedroom with just a guitar and a mic. Her powerful cover of Rihanna’s Love On The Brain has over 1 million views and her bluesy cover of Chris Stapleton’s Tennessee Whiskey has been picked up by almost every major country blog. While grabbing a guitar and belting out a cover is still her favorite party trick, Sophia is ready to establish herself as a storyteller with an inventive, fresh sound.
Not ready to Quit just yet, Sophia will be releasing her new single this Friday. So make sure to find Sophia’s music via iTunes and Spotify as well as on this week’s Top Ten Tuesday playlist here.
I am currently a student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles as a marketing major. Upon realizing that I wanted to change the way people perceive country music and to help women have a voice, I began Next Women of Country in 2015 promoting new female artists and sharing their stories with the world.
